League of Nations (Council)
It was the first intergovernmental organization formed in the year 1920. Its chief goal was to prevent wars through collective security and disarmament and settle international disputes through negotiation and arbitration. The league of nations has played an important role in the ending of world war 1. Though the league failed in averting the second world war yet it paved the way for a rule-based international order. It strengthened the idea of collective security and emphasised multilateral solutions to issues of common concern like epidemics, poverty, refugee crises etc.
