United Nations Security Council
The UNSC is one of the key organs of the UN. It is the guardian of international peace, security and harmony. It is the determiner of the existence of a threat to the peace or an act of aggression. The security council provides a platform for the settlement of disputes in a peaceful manner and even recommends the methods and terms of settlement between the warring parties. In extreme cases of global disorder, the UNSC has the authority to impose sanctions or even resort to the use of power to protect the rule-based global order. The council has 5 permanent members and 10 non-permanent members, and each member has one vote but permanent members also hold the veto power.
